We should remember that the very idea of Soul as rendered from the Greek word psuche IS largely misunderstood as men and their doctrines have ever tied the very idea of Soul to the carnal Life of the man in this world. Men have ever failed to see the idea of Life from the perspective of the Christ Within, or from the Apostle John’s teaching on the unction, which IS the anointing, which IS the Christ Within, which IS the personal Christ of everyman.

Much of this failure IS tied to the firm idea of men, the illusory idea that they ARE this walking, thinking and feeling mass of flesh in this world; and to their desire for the idea of everlasting Life in some form to apply to what IS the man in this world which IS the ONLY thing that they ‘truly’ KNOW. We used here the word everlasting which IS the way that aionios IS sometimes rendered to apply the doctrinal logic of the idea, a logic that fails to see the realities of eternity and infinity. It IS in the difficulty of the carnal and finite minds of men to Truly contemplate these ideas that the idea of everlasting IS used.

In everlasting doctrines have their idea of forevermore but the reality of aionios IS much more than this. Aionios has the deeper definition of without beginning and without end and if the many uses of this Greek word in the New Testament were viewed in this Light, perhaps the idea would be better understood and the very idea of the Soul glimpsed. While the carnal and finite mind CAN NOT see these ideas of eternity and infinity clearly, “the mind of Christ” (1 Corinthians 2:16) CAN. And this brings us back also to the Apostle Paul’s words to the Corinthians that we had been discussing in relation to the role of reincarnation and rebirth; there we found the separation of the body from the “building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens” (2 Corinthians 5:1).

Today we look at this saying in regard to the idea of eternity and here we should try to understand that this house IS the Soul and that it IS ONLY the in the limitations of language that we find the difficulty in understanding Paul’s parabolic idea. And NOT only this, we have also the limitations built by doctrines that desire to see this Life in form as the fullness of a man’s Life as well the limitation imposed by the carnal and finite mind which CAN NOT Truly grasp these ideas. But “the mind of Christ” CAN, the mind that IS Truly renewed according to the apostle’s words which we repeat here again:

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith (Romans 12:1-3).

It IS ONLY in “the renewing of your mind” that a man can begin to grasp the realities that ARE presented and begin to glimpse the greater Truth that he Truly IS “eternal in the heavens“….that he IS without beginning nor end. The apostle James, from the perspective of the man in this world, asks the question “For what is your life?” and then answers it saying: “It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away” (James 4:14) and amidst the allegories of these words IS the basic Truth.

The Life DOES “appeareth for a little time” as the Soul takes up a form in this world and then, after whatsoever length of Life one may have, the Life “vanisheth away“. The body DOES NOT vanish but the Life that was in the body; the Life that was using the “earthly house of this tabernacle” as Paul shows us IS NOW freed from it and IS yet in its “building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens” (2 Corinthians 5:1). Doctrines DO NOT see that there IS a synergy between the body and the personality; that they each rely upon the other throughout Life in this world with the endocrine system creating changes in the mood of the personality and the personality creating changes in the very nature of the body and its ability to respond to psychic changes. As he admonishes the reader “not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think” he IS offering a caution against that same drunkenness that he shows us in other places where he uses the idea of methe to make his point. In this idea we should see the same tone as we take from the apostle’s use of the idea of being puffed-up which IS holding a lofty or even proud attitude. These ARE attributes of the carnal mind as it IS the tendency of one to “think of himself more highly than he ought to think“.

Paul continues then to speak of the intended Unity of men and here we should see that it IS the caral attributes of mind that play against this Unity. Paul sees the potential for division and for the lofty attitude of some who may believe that their gift, their amount of grace received, IS better or greater than another’s and, to be sure, the apostle IS NOT ONLY speaking about outward attitudes of grandeur but of one’s own thoughts as well. And so he goes on with specific instructions regarding the thoughts and the outward expression of men who have some measure of Truth that can be expressed according to this list of gifts.

And here we should try to see that ALL of these ARE the providence of the True disciple and ALL ARE a part of the measure of everyman whose focus IS right while individual parts become a man’s expression based in the natural flow of revelation and realization through his Transforming personality. Of the first four parts of these gifts of grace that come into the Life of the man who strives to keep His words we have discussed three. We should remember here that these ideas ARE a part of the greater lesson offered by the apostle; a lesson that shows us the idea of Unity and then shows us that there should be NO lofty or proud attitude attached to one’s expression.

Then, most importantly, the apostle shows us that one should NOT try to express anything more that he may possess; that one should ONLY express whatsoever IS “according to the proportion of faith“. Can we see the point here? Can we understand that this IS the expression of the aspirant and the disciple and that this IS his service which can include such other ideas of expression which ALL Truly begin with the sacrifice of the carnal nature.

The next word IS didasko which IS rendered as teacheth and a kindred word that IS rendered here and implied as the teaching. The latter word didaskalia IS most always rendered as doctrine and here we can end with a simplistic interpretation of Paul’s intent which IS that one should NOT teach doctrines but should ONLY teach Truth as this IS revealed to the teacher as divinely inspired utterance or revelation.

We will continue with our thoughts in the next post.

Aspect <del></del>of God

Potency

Aspect of Man

In Relation to the Great Invocation

In relation to the Christ

GOD, The Father

Will or Power

Spirit or Life

Center where the Will of God IS KNOWN

Life

Son, The Christ

Love and Wisdom

Soul or Christ Within

Heart of God

Truth

Holy Spirit

Light or Activity

Life Within

Mind of God

Way

Note on the Quote of the Day

This daily blog also has a Quote of the Day which may not be in any way related to the essay. The message that this imparts for us today IS that it IS the Soul that is at work in the world of men as it expresses to some degree the purpose, power and the will through Life in this world.
