IN THE WORDS OF JESUS–Part 366

Love is the Fulfilling of the Law

ON GOD; Part CXLVIII

Yesterday we entered into a new revelation of courage from the perspective of the writer of these posts and this is a most important revelation for ALL as we take on greater responsibilities for our own actions as well as for our intended Life calling which is the promotion of Love, Truth, Peace and Justice in the world of men. The Master tells us that these things are of Great Importance and that these things are found Within and not without the man in form. The Master tells us that “the kingdom of God is within you” (Luke 17:21) and this is perhaps the most important revelation of our time; yes He did tell us this many, many years ago but it was hardly heard and not heretofore really appreciated by the church that carries His name. They still wait for the Glory of a Kingdom coming down from the sky or a one that they are destined to if they live right after their time on earth is done. If “the kingdom of God is within you” is a Truth and, this is what the Master told us; this is what should be thought as true even though some of the church has tried to change His words to fit their varied doctrines. It has become that the Kingdom is among you or in your midst and these translations are contrary to the very meaning of the words as we discussed in some detail in In the Words of Jesus part 344.

The Master tells us that “the kingdom of God is within you” and this is perhaps the most important revelation of our time and this is a strong statement statement of fact. It gives to a man the greater confidence that the words of the Master are True insofar as His overall message is that we live our Life according to His words and that in doing so the reward in here and it is now. It is not however in the material things of the World as many paint it; it is in the Kingdom itself. If the Kingdom is within you then God is within you and the Son, the Christ, is withing you as well and this is the yet greater part of this revelation; that in the center of our being there is the Greatness and the Glory of God and it is the responsibility of each and every man who has this awareness to “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).

Carrying this thought yet further we should see that with the Kingdom being within a man, that the True man, the Spirit, IS within him as well. There should be a greater recognition of the relationship between the Spirit that is man and God the Father and between the Soul, the Christ Within, with the Christ or the Son aspect of God. For clarity here we post again our chart of the Constitution of Man as it relates to the Trinity which is God:

Aspect of God

Potency

Aspect of Man

Father

Will or Power

Spirit or Life

Son

Love and Wisdom

Soul or Christ Within

Holy Spirit

Light or Activity

Life Within the Form

While this chart may seem alien to many, especially those who follow the doctrines of the church, looking at it in relation to the New Testament should reveal that although there are some unknown ideas here, that many of these are stated plainly or else alluded to in the words of the Master and His apostles. We should also see that some of these terms, while they are used, are not explained by the Master or His apostles. We KNOW that the Father is God and that He has Will and Power and is Spirit and Life but none of this is explained to us nor are these relationships that we make above denied; they are rather alluded to in straightforward sayings that are misinterpreted, enunciated in parables and discussed in the oft cryptic sayings of the apostles. The brief saying from Paul to the Romans that we just concluded after many days is an example of the depth of teaching and understanding to be found in Paul’s Epistiles as this particular saying sets forth some of the concepts of the Life of man in the world as a Soul in form.

We should also grasp here the ideas of what God IS according to scripture as being what man is as a Spirit and, in our understanding these are inseparable. We can begin this by understanding that God is Love and thereby the God Within is Love as well and that when a man is expressing the Life of the Christ Within through form, when he is a disciple and a high aspirant, that his expression is Love as well. “Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them” (Matthew 7:20) is a statement of fact by the Master that was offered in its negative context of how to KNOW those who are not disciples. this should also be seen in its positive context of how one can KNOW that a man is a disciple and in this we should understand that the greatest fruit is Love. This can be seen rather clearly in the words of the Master and is stated plainly by Paul as well when he says that “But the fruit of the Spirit is love” (Galatians 5:22).

As we start our second year of posts we should remember that the end point of ALL that we say is found in the Master’s teachings on Love and this has been a steady theme throughout the first year. What better way to start anew than to publish again for the sake of any newcomers and for a continual reminder to us ALL our understanding of Love:

Of all that the Master told us, He considered this as the Greatest of Commandments. So much of what we are to understand as aspirants or as believers is found in the precept that we must

KEEP HIS WORDS:

And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these” (Mark 12:30-31).

We ask ourselves WHAT THEN IS LOVE?

In a general sense love is benevolence, good will; that disposition of heart which inclines men to think favorably of their fellow men, and to do them good. In a theological sense, it includes supreme love to God, and universal good will to men.

We add to this THE EVER IMPORTANT AND HIGH IDEAL TAUGHT TO US BY THE CHRIST which can serve to both give us an understanding of what it means to Love oneself and how it is that we can Love our neighbor:

Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them” (Matthew 7:12).

Do we understand that there is no parable here and nothing to try to interpret or to understand; there is only plain and simple language including that which is our own definition of what Love IS. There is a plainness and a clarity to ALL of this and there is the Master’s proclamation that “There is none other commandment greater than these” as we read above and in the rendition of His words by Matthew as well where Jesus says: “On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets” (Matthew 22:40). This is in our understanding the crux of the Master’s teaching….LOVE; and it is the foundation of ALL that we should see and KNOW. GOD IS LOVE and therefore we are, in our True nature as Spirit, LOVE as well and if we are LOVE it is only natural that we should express LOVE and that LOVE would be the Fruit of our Life and that by this Fruit a disciple and an aspirant will be KNOWN.

“But many that are first shall be last; and the last first

(Mark 10:31)

We covered this saying in much detail in In the Words of Jesus part 363 but a few days back and we ended with the thought found in the Master’s saying which is not quite a parable but has that parabolic nature and which tells us much that is of value in the Life of a disciple. We repeat the whole of it here again for clarity:

And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith. And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you. But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat? And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink? Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not. So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do” (Luke 17:5-10).

This dialogue is between the Master and His disciples and it His teaching on the Power of the God Within when a man, a disciple, can express that Power through his Life in form. This is the Power of KNOWING, doubting nothing, that you are the Christ Within living through form and are no longer the man living in the world. This is a great distinction and it is the manifestation of the ability to say with the Master that “I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). It is this point of KNOWING that we read about in the Life of the Apostle Peter as he moves from the fisherman to the follower to the disciple to the KNOWER as we see him in the Book of Acts where he is able to heal by his mere proximity: “Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them……and they were healed every one” (Acts 5;15). We read similar about Paul but it seems that the Life of Peter is laid before us as sign and a symbol of the abilities of each of us. The Master goes from telling His disciples of the inherent Power that they posses if they can have “faith as a grain of mustard seed“, the Faith of KNOWING, to telling them about the responsibilities of the True disciple and in this combination of thoughts we should see that this Power of KNOWING is found not in act of discipleship only but with the addition of giving ALL which is beyond our duty which is but to keep His words. Can we understand the depths of this giving? Can we see the idea here also of the starting phrase; that there are many that are first, those that can exit satisfied that they have done their duty, who will become last, they will stay to give their ALL.

We still have to go through these Values to Live By and to relate these ideas to the words of the Master and His apostles and we will try to begin with this in the next post. Until we do we will continue to post these words that have a practical relationship to our Life as aspirants and disciples; not that we should live by them as we MUST already be there but that we should teach them and express them as ideas for ALL.

 Values to Live By

A Love of Truth—essential
for a just, inclusive and progressive society;

A Sense of Justice—recognition
of the rights and needs, of all.

Spirit of Cooperation—based
on active goodwill and the principle of right human
relationships;

A Sense of Personal Responsibility—for
group, community and national affairs;

Serving the Common Good— through
the sacrifice of selfishness. Only what is good for all
is good for each one.

The world of the future depends on what each one of us chooses to do today.

We will discuss these important points in the next post. We should remember here the premise that we presented near the beginning of our posting of this Quote of the Day: It is interesting to note that the ideas of the Quote of the Day embody much of the Master’s teachings and can set the stage for the beginning of each man’s revelation and realization of the Light of the Soul; that is, that by the intentional practice of these ‘rules’ of conduct one can put himself in the position of a follower of the Master and an keeper of His word and this regardless if he has ever heard of the Christ or wants to be affiliated with any ideas Christian. By keeping these sound principals of Life in mind and practicing them a man can lift himself up above and beyond the world of men and into the world of the Good, the Beautiful and the True as it exists for those in whom the Christ Within, the God Within, is awakened. Ponder on this.

In accord with the ideas that we close with above we bring again to your attention the ideas by which a man should Live. This Quote of the Day is the realty of how we should focus our lives and in so doing, all the other things alluded to above will take care of themselves and this is a great part of the selfless attitude of the disciple and his ability to forsake ALL.

Note on the Quote of the Day

This daily blog also has a Quote of the Day which may not be in any way related to the essay. Many of these will be from the Bible and some just prayers or meditations that may have an influence on you and are in line with the subject matter of this blog. As the quote will change daily and will not store with the post, it is repeated in this section with the book reference and comment.

Today we repeat again the Great Invocation as our Quote of the Day.

From the point of Light within the Mind of God
Let light stream forth into the minds of men.
Let Light descend on Earth.

From the point of Love within the Heart of God
Let love stream forth into the hearts of men.
May Christ return to Earth.

From the centre where the Will of God is known
Let purpose guide the little wills of men–
The purpose which the Masters know and serve.

From the centre which we call the race of men
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.

Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.

This prayer is a part of our Prayers and Meditations section and there is much information about it there and in our discussion of it in the Quote of the Day section of In the Words of Jesus parts 128-132

The above Invocation or Prayer does not belong to any person or group but to all Humanity. The beauty and the strength of this Invocation lies in its simplicity, and in its expression of certain central truths which all men, innately and normally, accept—the truth of the existence of a basic Intelligence to Whom we vaguely give the name of God; the truth that behind all outer seeming, the motivating power of the universe is Love; the truth that a great Individuality came to earth, called by Christians, the Christ, and embodied that love so that we could understand; the truth that both love and intelligence are effects of what is called the Will of God; and finally the self-evident truth that only through humanity itself can the Divine Plan work out.

Like the Lord’s Prayer, this invocation is a World Prayer which is as all that a prayer is intended to be. It is a prayer for the uplifting of the Human Family out of the mire of materialism and selfishness. The Lord’s Prayer asks nothing for the individual praying it but asks that its benefits be for US and for WE which is why it was given by the Christ as a prayer and as a model over 2000 years ago. This invocation is also attributed to the Christ who, as He promised, has never left us; He, through channels that we do not readily understand, has Himself instructed His disciples to distribute this prayer and to encourage its use as a world prayer and as an aid in preparing the world for His return.

The first three stanzas of this prayer should be understood as reflecting the effective potencies of the Trinity which is God and which, when brought down to an individual level, the Trinity which is Man. His Will, His Love and His Light we should seen as the Potent Powers of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
