Love is the Fulfilling of the Law
ON GOD; Part CLXV
“For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh” (Luke 6:44-45).
“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt , and where thieves break through and steal : But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt , and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also” (Matthew 6:19-21).

Life Within the Form |
We have long maintained that it is the focus of one’s Life that determines his place in the scheme of things and this is True throughout ALL phases, be it as the children of this world OR the children of light. By focus a man attends to whatsoever it is that is the object of his focus and it is through this attention of the consciousness of the man, the heart as the Master tells us, that one can understand what his own treasure is and, in many ways, this is also his display to the world. We have been spending much time on these ideas as they relate to a man’s consciousness and have seen how this consciousness can be regarded as the True man because consciousness is the activity of the Life of the Soul in form and this should be seen as in addition to the Souls providing the Power by which the whole of the body is animated. With only the one side of this, the Life thread if you will, the body will not have this interactive self conscious response to the world; this is inherent only in the Life of the Soul of man. The other kingdoms likely have souls as well but these are not or the same nature as the Soul of man of which we read from Psalms a saying that is repeated for us in the Book of Hebrews saying: “What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet” (Psalms 8:4-6). The common understanding of this is much like we see in the understanding of those sayings about man and the image of God from Genesis. When however we look at these things as that they are directed to the Spirit and the Soul of man it can make much difference.
By the reading of this as the man in form, the above is saying that the man in the world has “dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet” and this, by way of the verbiage, should likely be extended to ALL men and for this we cannot make a valid case. However, when we see this as the Spirit being the man and the Soul being the Son of man as is depicted in our chart above we can make valid sense of this in that it can be said that ALL Souls are given this dominion. We must remember that as Souls ALL are equal except in their ability to express their Love and Power through form; this is so because the Soul IS Pure and unblemished in his own right and ever in the Kingdom of God. We must refer here again to the words of Paul that we have been using which tell us that “the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly” (Paul 8:20). Here we should have the understanding that the Soul, by way of his incarnation into this world, is who is subject to this vanity and we should understand that this vanity does not touch the Soul himself but only that part lent to the form Life, the consciousness. This idea of lent is hard to grasp and there may be a better word that we have not yet discovered; it is intended to give the idea that the Soul still owns the consciousness but that control over it is given to the Life through which he incarnates in the Earth. This is necessarily a difficult thing to understand but we should take comfort in the idea that it is no more difficult that any other thing about Life, just a bit out of the ordinary according to what we have learned from doctrine.
It is in this way that it is possible for the consciousness in the form to take input from two sources, the Soul and the World and thereby is a man able to be children of this world OR the children of light. This difference is based upon the focus of the consciousness which is distinguished by those things that take his attention. On the lower side, that of the world, this is as we discussed in the last post, that this is more that just money and possessions but it is rather inclusive of ALL that a man may attend to; it is attitudes and feelings as well as money the physical possession of things. On the Higher Side, that of God, it is attention to the words of the Master and the following of these words. It is between the mammon on the lower side and God on the higher side that a choice must be made, and this choice is primary part of the free will of man. Here there are three basic Life types which of course expand to become many based on the range of degrees that are possible within each. A man can be considered as children of this world and the range of this can be from the depraved criminal mind to the man who blindly attends religious service but at the same time lives a irreligious Life. A man can be considered as children of light also in a broad range of degrees of realization; this can range from the man who is just coming into the realization of the duality in which he lives, the good and the evil so to speak, up to the highest disciple of the Lord who is in full cooperation with the Plan of God. In the center we have ALL that are in between and here is the greater likelihood of that vacillation between the ideas of God and mammon; here is a man caught in the winds of illusion and vanity and here is the man ofttimes unsure of what is for him Truth. It is here that we find the true struggle with one’s own conscience.
And here is the relation to focus; on the lower end there only that focus on the things of the world and on the Higher end the focus upon the things of God, it is in the great middle range that the majority live and it is here that one is most subject to the vanity which we see as illusion and glamour. This is true because of the realization by the consciousness of the duality of Life in form; on the lower end this duality is not sensed and on the higher end it is largely overcome but it the middle duality plays and hard and important role in bringing the consciousness out “from the bondage of corruption” AND “into the glorious liberty of the children of God“. Based upon this as an assessment of Life, how do we assess ourselves?
We have been going around with this theme for some time now and its overall importance should be noted as it is a man’s focus throughout his Life which comes down to his focus throughout his day that determines his direction and his place. A man’s place is ever a deeply personal thing and is only discoverable by self appraisal and this too is a complex undertaking for this very aprasial is subject to that same vanity to which the human family is subjected and that same illusion and glamour. In this many people are deluded by thinking that they have it right but they do not and the greatest tell for this is the fruit of one’s Life. We should all remember that list of fruit of the Spirit. Paul tells us that the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance (Galatians 5:22-23)” and again he says that “the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth” (Ephesians 5:9). Can we see ALL of these moving in our Life?
We come now full circle to the sayings of the Master as we have been repeating them above and we should understand in these that both of these sayings, from Luke’s Gospel and from Matthew’s, were spoken as a part of the Sermon on the Mount as recorded by the writers. This then is instruction to His disciples as well as to the assembled crowd which we must assume is made up of those in the middle grouping above. For the disciple this should be seen as confirmation of a thing that they should KNOW and for the crowd as instructions on achieving the Kingdom as this is the tenor of most ALL of the Master’s instructions. In these sayings the Master speaks much about treasure and about heart and the relationship of one to the other and, based upon our understanding of these ideas, there should be no confusion over the Master’s intent.
Here, if we can see the idea of heart as the consciousness of a man that can see in two directions at such a time as the duality is sensed or the impulses of the Soul are recorded then we can better understand ourselves and our fellowman.
Here, if we can see the idea of “the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly” as the plight of the man in form and can understand that the vanity, the illusion and the glamour, are in essence the ways of the world and are such “by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope” which is the Plan of God, then we can better understand ourselves and our fellowman.
Here, if we can understand the treasure as our focus and the attention that we may give to the things of the world or of God in our daily lives, then we can better understand ourselves and our fellowman.
This brings us again to a saying by the Buddha that echoes the thoughts of the Master and our ideas here as well. He says:
“All beings tremble before violence. All fear death. All love life. See yourself in others. Then whom can you hurt? What harm can you do?5”
In this saying the Buddha is equating for us ALL men through their attitudes toward Life and tells us clearly that if we can see ourselves, our own past and present problems and issues, in others, that we can then approach all in harmlessness which is a feature point of the Quote of the Day below. When we can see ourselves in others we can get a glimpse of the burdens that each faces and this is surely a difficult thing to do.
We will continue with our thoughts in the next post.
Note on the Quote of the Day
This daily blog also has a Quote of the Day which may not be in any way related to the essay. Many of these will be from the Bible and some just prayers or meditations that may have an influence on you and are in line with the subject matter of this blog. As the quote will change daily and will not store with the post, it is repeated in this section with the book reference and comment.
Noticed today that although this Quote of the Day has been posted for many days now, the Quote on the front page has not changed and we will rectify this today.
We have left this saying for several days now and want to here say that within this reflection is the reality of a True Son of God, a disciple if you will, and it is by accomplishing these things that a men can be seen as disciples and, for those who try to achieve, those who strive, as aspirants.
Evening Reflection
May the Power of the One True God flow through His group of all true servers;
May the Love of the Christ characterize the lives of all who seek to aid in His work;
May I fulfill my part in the one work through self-forgetfulness, harmlessness and right speech
(Evening Reflection)
- Self-forgetfulness which is the absence of self interest in our prayer and our service; as the Master told us Ye cannot serve God and mammon”.
- Harmlessness which, as a positive aspect, is that meekness of Jesus and of which He also said “Blessed are the meek”.
- Right Speech which is the ability to control the tongue remembering that “out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh” and that in self-forgetfulness, harmlessness and Love will our hearts be right.
