We started a new and unexpected topic in the last post but one that is important for our understanding of the Truth of the Constitution of Man. This constitution is shown for us in the chart below and this does, whether it is realized or not, agree with the teachings of the New Testament. It is unfortunate that this is not readily seen in the words of the Master and His apostles as in general man is still blinded by the illusion and the glamour of his Life in form. The realization of the Master’s words must come to a man from his own Soul, the Christ Within, as he is stirred by the words that he may read or hear. The prerequisite for this realization is that one is open to the Truth and has more or less freed himself from the preconceptions and the beliefs that he may have been indoctrinated with. These preconceptions may be secular as taught in schools and by the ways of the world or they may be ‘religious’ as taught by any of the worlds religions; no matter what they may be they have have formed a mind set that is difficult to relinquish as it is for many a source for comfort in Life.
As we have said many times, the Soul of a man is ever trying to get the attention of the consciousness in form off of the world of things and it is in this prompting that opportunity comes. It is upon the nature of the Life in form and the capabilities of the personality that the degree of opportunity depends and one’s understanding of this relies upon the same. A Soul comes into incarnation and builds his form and his personality, his emotional and mental natures, based upon his garnered ability to so build and upon the karmic responsibility that he brings. Understanding this gives us a broad understanding of the diversity of forms that are here in the Earth as well as the diversity of the places, cultures and races into which a Soul incarnates. While the method of all this remains a mystery, it can be noted that a Soul will put himself into a situation and a time where he will be able to work out any karmic responsibility and where he may find the opportunity to progress. It is in understanding these things that we can also understand the plight of our brothers in form and understand as well that not all Souls are ready to progress to discipleship in any given Lifetime although the possibility is likely always there. This is the role of the free will of man.
We spoke yesterday about the choice that a Spirit makes and about the corporate choice that is responsible for the Love and the Service that the Spirit of man provides to the world of things. We will pursue this idea a bit later but for now we would focus upon the idea of the incoming Soul as he prepares to incarnate and we should be able to see the role of choice here insofar as the time, the place, the race and the culture plays in the great panorama of Life as we see it from this myopic vantage point of the man in form. In yesterday’s post we spoke in relation to the Spirit and today we are speaking as the Soul and we should understand that these are one; the Soul is but the presence of the Spirit in manifestation; better said, the Soul is the expression of the Spirit of man through which he can interact with the world of form. Much like the Father God did not appear on the Earth but rather sent the Christ, so the Spirit of man does not appear on the Earth but rather sends the Soul of man who is the Christ Within. While this may seemingly contradict some Old Testament Christian beliefs this is, from the perspective of man, a Truth.
We are again here trying to see into the mysteries of Life and of the Kingdom of God which is ever the place of the Soul which is the Spirit and which, from the perspective of the man in form, is within. The Master tells us this clearly but the man in form does not understand this because of the preconceptions and the beliefs that encumber his thinking; the Master tells us and tells those to whom He is speaking directly that it does not matter what it is that you think will happen, there is a greater reality that does happen. The verses go thus: “And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you” (Luke 17:20-21). In our proper understanding of these words comes the proper understanding of the chart below; One God encompassing the Trinity of God and residing, if we can use such a word, in the Kingdom and therefore One Spirit encompassing the Trinity of man and residing as well in that same Kingdom and this is our understanding of the correspondence between God and man. Again, we must not see man as this form or its personality but as that which is inside the man in form, his Life and consciousness which is his Spirit, his Soul, his Christ Within. We should here then be able to also see that the Spirit, being the Life in the man in form, and the Kingdom, being within the man in form, are essentially the same thing and this we see also by the realization that to attain the Kingdom is to attain that Oneness with the Christ Within and the expression of these through form.

So we should see that the corporate Soul of humanity made a choice to incarnate into Life in form and with this we will deal later; we should see also that the Soul makes a choice in each incarnation based upon those things that we addressed above but we should see this particular choice as more of a KNOWING when and where to go as there is naught but Truth in the realm of the Soul and there is NEVER any attempt to bypass one’s responsibilities as the ultimate goal can only be reached through Love and Truth. At the end of these choices lies the Soul’s incarnation where we find what is referred to as free will. We should understand that this free will is at best limited and is subject to the ways of the time, place, culture and race that one is born into and with this we will deal later on in another essay except to say here the the True free will, and still somewhat limited, is for the man in form to sense the Christ Within and choose to follow Him and the Good, the Beautiful and the True which He represents.
While the realities of all of this are subject to the understanding and the interpretation of each man individually, the general ideas here are True for ALL. We are ALL Spirit manifest as Souls in order to express Life through a body and a personality here on this Earth; we ALL have some role in choosing the times and places as well as the general environment into which we incarnate and we ALL then have some opportunity for ‘spiritual advancement’ which we must choose to take over the attractions of the world of things. And, as we have always said, it is in this choice to focus upon the Christ Within and to strive toward that strait gate, that we can overcome the illusion and the glamour of the world of form.
In yesterday’s post we discussed the ideas of the Spirit and the fact that ALL is Life; that there is Life in everything but not necessarily Life as we KNOW it. We premised that behind ALL phenomenal appearances there is some motivating Power that we call Life and which is Spirit and add today that this is especially True in the Life of the complex forms of the greater Animal Kingdom albeit in a way that is clouded in much mystery and which we cannot at this time explain in the Light of our current understanding of the evolution of man both as the animal form and as the Soul. We should here note that this is not of any importance to us in our journey except to better understand the role of those around us which includes ALL beings on the Earth and to note also that at that time when the fullness of discipleship is upon a man, he WILL KNOW ALL these things and this fullness is that of which the Master speaks as he refers to the capability of the man to realize these things:
- “And the Lord said , If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root , and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you” (Luke 17:6)
- “And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove ; and nothing shall be impossible unto you” (Matthew 17:20).
- “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do ; because I go unto my Father” (John 14:12).
And ALL this is to the True disciple who can Truly shed ALL of the things of the world and of whom Paul speaks when he says: “Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:26-27).
We will continue with our thoughts in the next post.
Note on the Quote of the Day
I am a point of light within a greater Light.
I am a strand of loving energy within the stream of Love divine.
I am a point of sacrificial Fire, focused within the fiery Will of God.
And thus I stand
I am a way by which men may achieve.
I am a source of strength, enabling them to stand.
I am a beam of light, shining upon their way.
And thus I stand.
And standing thus, revolve
And tread this way the ways of men,
And know the ways of God.
And thus I stand.
Looking at Life as we depict it above in relation to this affirmation we can see the idea presented that we are a part of God and that this is true on multiple levels, the levels that we call the Trinity. Relating these first three lines to the chart above can offer some clarity as to the nature of God and of man. For more on the ideas in this Affirmation of the Disciple please refer to the Quote of the Day from In the Words of Jesus parts 179-181.
