From the point of Light within the Mind of God
Let light stream forth into the minds of men.
Let Light descend on Earth.

From the point of Love within the Heart of God
Let love stream forth into the hearts of men.
May Christ return to Earth.

From the centre where the Will of God is known
Let purpose guide the little wills of men–
The purpose which the Masters know and serve.

From the centre which we call the race of men
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.

Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.

We ended the last post with some words on service as we should try to understand it from the Master’s perspective who tells us clearly that with ALL of His stature and status from a spiritual perspective that He is yet our servant and we can see this as His message that the entirety of His mission IS a service to His brothers in the world of form and a guiding Light to ALL who succeed them. Jesus tells us “I am among you as he that serveth” (Luke 22:27) and again, from Matthew’s Gospel from the New American Standard Version (NAS) “just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many” (Matthew 20:28) and in His words we should get the understanding that although He IS the spiritual leader of the group of apostles and disciples and although He is come to change the course and the discourse of the world of men, He IS doing so as a servant; He is giving His time, His resources and even His Life for the benefit of others, for His brothers that are yet trapped in the illusion and the glamour, the vanity, of the world of men. Now while this may seem a way off of our topic that began with the Great Invocation and our chart below of the Constitution of Man with the Aspects of God and their potencies, this is only because we are not understanding the reality of service which IS  for some a difficult thing to grasp, myself included.

In the individual stanzas of the Great Invocation are the goals and the objectives for the spiritual advancement of the race of men and our simple earnest reciting and meditating upon these words and the words of any so suited mantram or prayer can be seen as service as it puts into the mental and emotional fabric of our world these thoughts of the Light, the Love and the Power of OUR God in whom we ALL “live and move and have our being” (Acts 17:28). Remembering that ALL IS energy, a revelation that Albert Einstein, who we discussed yesterday, brought to the world of men, can we see how then that ALL is connected? And we should understand that this reality of energy stretches far beyond the physical properties of what we can see and feel. Looking at this in the same way as we would look at how the radio, television or the internet actually works, we should recognize that we do not KNOW and proceed to use what we do KNOW for our betterment. And this message is True even to those whose livelihood is found in developing these human inventions; that they can use what we can call fields of energy but there is yet no True understanding of just what they are. So then as more and more men in form take to reciting and meditating on the Great Invocation or any so suited prayer, they do it for ALL and we should see in the Great Invocation that there is nothing of a personal nature as the orientation of this mantram is toward the entirety of the world of men and similar can be said about our Affirmation of the Disciple that we have below as the Quote of the Day.

The Master gives us some understanding of service in His words above and those from John’s Gospel that we discussed in the last essay which tells us: “If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am , there shall also my servant be : if any man serve me, him will my Father honour” (John 12:26). In this we should try to see the reality that the Master is imparting to us saying that if we, as men in the world, wish to serve the Master then we will follow him, which is for us to keep His words, and be where He IS and this we take to mean in thought, attitude and action. In the last post we used Vincent’s understanding for follow me which should give us the same ideas that we get from believing in or believing on; looking at his words on both we see:

  •  To believe in, or on, is more than mere acceptance of a statement. It is so to accept a statement or a person as to rest upon them, to trust them practically; to draw upon and avail one’s self of all that is offered to him in them. Hence to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ is not merely to believe the facts of His historic life or of His saving energy as facts, but to accept Him as Savior, Teacher, Sympathizer, Judge; to rest the soul upon Him for present and future salvation, and to accept and adopt His precepts and example as binding upon the life 4.
  • Follow ( ἀκολούθει )  Often used in the New Testament with the special sense of following as a disciple or partisan. See Matthew 4:20, Matthew 4:22; Matthew 9:9; Mark 1:18; John 8:12. Also with the meaning of cleaving steadfastly to one and conforming to his example. See Matthew 10:38; Matthew 16:24; John 12:26 4.

We should note here that Vincent’s insights also can be considered a service to humanity from this perspective of doing for others and this even though his work is rather heavy in his own doctrinal understanding. While this is so from our viewpoint here today, his insights may have been considered as the cutting edge of religious philosophy in his day and this likely just as we consider our own today. His insight on the ideas of believing and following are, from our perspective, far beyond the normal teachings of the doctrines of the churches and in the words we highlight above is our own understanding as well of the True meaning and intent of what the Master says. In both of these sayings we find the reality of keeping His words which IS the Way, the only Way, to True spiritual advancement. And this IS ever our message; a message that is beyond all of the words that we may use and all of the explanations of our perspective on Life in the world and spiritual advancement, a message that says that we should keep His words and, recognizing the enormity of this undertaking from a human perspective, that we strive to do so. And we should understand as well that our own spiritual advancement should not be an aim or an objective as this reduces our efforts to things of and for the self; the Truth of our advancement comes in our service to others and this IS of course a part of our expression of Love. And this again is our line of delineation and demarcation, the line that separates what we do for the self and the self in the world from what we do for God and here we should recognize that what we do for God we are in essence doing for our brothers in the world and vice versa as the Master tells us in this saying that appears near the end of Matthew’s Gospel and chronologically 10 near the end of His time with us:

Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:  For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying , Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirst , and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me” (Matthew 25:34-40).

While these words above are heeded in some parts of the church, the whole of this saying, which has words before and after that suggest the ‘end times’, is considered as eschatological in nature. For us however this is a parabolic saying with a hidden meaning as we find in most ALL of the Master’s parabolic sayings and this one is in fact called by some as the Parable of the Sheep and the Goats. For us the meaning behind His words is simply put as: whatsoever we do for our brothers, even the least of them, we are in reality doing for the Lord, and we should take care here not to be trapped by words that speak of hunger and thirst, a stranger with no place or one in need of clothing or visitation, these are but timely examples given in that day by the Master. We should consider ALL things that we can do for our brothers in the world as doing such for the Lord and we could take this same to mean from the following versus that whatsoever we do against our brother can be against the Lord as well. Now we should try to understand this by our logic and insights and not by the doctrinal approach; we see the reality of Life in the world, self-centered and self-absorbed, as doing things against one’s brothers or ‘not for’ one’s brothers and in this view we are doing or not doing against the Lord as the Christ Within; we are not allowing that divine part of our lives to flower forth into the world and hence on both sides of this saying we should be able to see His points. Above we have in the doing for others the reality from the perspective of the Lord and the Lord Within that “ye have done it unto me” and so in the converse, in not doing the Master says “ye did it not to me”  Can we see this reality for today in His words?

As the Great Invocation is a tool for meditative thought and for invocation as we have been discussing, it also holds within its scope several Truths that are rather ignored by the mainstream of churches and religions and the promulgation of these to the world is encouraged and needed for the race of men to begin to see more clearly the realities of Life in form as measured against what is commonly seen as the temporal existence that we have and which fades then into the unknown. Perhaps most of what we can say about this invocation or prayer is what we have already said as we carried this for many days as our Quote of the Day along with our comments which we bring here again saying that: Like the Lord’s Prayer, this invocation is a World Prayer which is as all that a prayer is intended to be. It is a prayer for the uplifting of the Human Family out of the mire of materialism and selfishness. The Lord’s Prayer asks nothing for the individual praying it but asks that its benefits be for US and for WE which is why it was given by the Christ as a prayer and as a model over 2000 years ago. This invocation is also attributed to the Christ who, as He promised, has never left us; He, through channels that we do not readily understand, has Himself instructed His disciples to distribute this prayer and to encourage its use as a world prayer and as an aid in preparing the world for His return. Our points here in these words show for us the selfless attitude of the Great Invocation as well as the the similar attitude of the Lord’s Prayer and perhaps this is what the Master meant when he said to those who asked “Lord, teach us to pray” and to which He answered “When ye pray , say” (Luke 11:1-2) from which He gave us the words as we find them in Luke’s Gospel. Matthew Gospel frames this a bit differently and this has created a controversy over the centuries as to what it is that He intended with some understanding His words according to Luke and others maintaining that He was giving us a model; according to Matthew there is no question but rather a statement by the Master saying: “After this manner therefore pray ye” (Matthew 6:9). From this saying the Master goes on to tell us the prayer and we should remember that this comes after His words that tell us of discreetness saying: “But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly” (Matthew 6:6) and it is from this saying and a few others about prayer that many have come to believe that the Lord answers prayers for carnal things.

While the nature of the Lord’s Prayer should have taken away from this belief and this approach of praying for the self and things for the self, this has not been the case as it is not used in the way that we believe the Master intended. In our ideas above we see that the very nature of the Lord’s Prayer IS NOT self-serving and in our view this is His intent for those who believe that it is a model and this is a reality for those who see the Master as teaching us how to pray. Enter today the Great Invocation which we are told is also given to the world by the Christ and this during some of the darkest days on Earth during the Second World War. There is much on the internet and in books regarding this prayer and from that perspective it has been spread but unfortunately the eyes of the average Christian in the churches today are blind to it and this because the church has not accepted this as a prayer and they at the same time likely refute that the Christ is the source thinking that the Christ would speak to Christians and not to heretics as they see the more esoteric spiritual movements to whom this prayer came. This is an unfortunate but likely a predictable scenario from the perspective of the Christ and His disciples today who were instrumental in giving us this world invocation and prayer and in closing today we would encourage all to read what is available regarding this and to do what one can to help to bring it to more and more people. In writing this I am motivated to do more to spread this myself.

We will continue with our thoughts in the next post.

Note on the Quote of the Day

This daily blog also has a Quote of the Day which may not be in any way related to the essay. Many of these will be from the Bible and some just prayers or meditations that may have an influence on you and are in line with the subject matter of this blog. As the quote will change daily and will not store with the post, it is repeated in this section with the book reference and comment.

We are again at a time of year that includes the three Spiritual Festivals which are yet largely unrecognized by the Christian churches except for the one that recently past called Easter. We know about these festivals through the teaching and the efforts of the Master’s of the Wisdom who we should see as advanced disciples of the Christ, a group which may yet include those Souls that appeared with the Master as His Apostles, disciples and others who aided and assisted in His Great Mission such as the Baptist and His natural mother Mary. Each of these festivals is celebrated at a Full Moon and the cycle begins with Easter which is celebrated on the Sunday following the first Full Moon of Spring. At the Full Moon of May, which occurs on the 5th day of the month, is the Wesak Festival which is the Festival of the Buddha and at the Full Moon of June, which will occur on the 4th of June, is the Christ Festival also known today as World Invocation Day. As we progress toward the Wesak Festival we will post Quote’s of the Day that are, in our view, conducive to the view of the Buddha and the Christ as regards the spreading of Love and GoodWill throughout the world; we begin with the Affirmation of the Disciple.

I am a point of light within a greater Light.
I am a strand of loving energy within the stream of Love divine.
I am a point of sacrificial Fire, focused within the fiery Will of God.

And thus I stand

I am a way by which men may achieve.
I am a source of strength, enabling them to stand.
I am a beam of light, shining upon their way.

And thus I stand.

And standing thus, revolve
And tread this way the ways of men,
And know the ways of God.

And thus I stand.

We repeat again what we had previously said of this Mantram:

Today’s Quote of the Day is called the Affirmation of the Disciple and is spoken from the perspective of the Soul and not from that of the man in form. It is the Soul that we are in this life on Earth, housed in this ‘temple’ of flesh and it is the Light of the Soul that must flow through this ‘temple’ in order that we may say with the Christ “I have overcome the world“ (John 16:33) which is our goal and our destiny. Speaking then as the Soul we affirm our reality and true existence in God and in His Three Aspects of Light and Love and His Will. As this Light and Love and Will flow through our conscious personalities and forms we, as disciples, take on the nature of the second stanza being able to offer to the world a better way through our service and our Love for all, encouragement to righteousness through our strength of purpose, and the Light which shines in accordance with the Master’s instructions to “Let your light so shine before men” (Matthew 5:16) and illuminates the Path. Finally we realize that we are standing in this world and walking as men but, as conscious Souls in form, we know the way and the ways of God and are able to say with the Christ that “I am not of this world” (John 8:23).

Let the peace of God rule in your hearts!
