Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love. This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as  other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart” (Ephesians 4:13-18).

We have been spending much time on our premise that it IS ONLY to those who are focused upon the Truth of God and the God Within that True revelation will come and that True revelation will have naught to do with the self and the self in the world. These type of thoughts, thoughts of the self, are those of the personality in the world and the measure of ALL thoughts, that they are from above, the Soul, or from below, the personality, is made by the honest use of the Apostle James’s words on the Wisdom from above and the Apostle Paul’s fruit of the Spirit. We should understand here that emotions may play a large part in this based upon the makeup of any particular individual and while we speak of these things separately there is essentially no separation as they do ALL become thoughts processed by the man in form through the brain, the nervous system and the endocrine system. This is of course but a rough analysis of these processes and we should try to understand that although it may seem that one’s thoughts and emotions are a part of the physical body nature, they are in reality from the human mind and that this mind IS the source which feeds the physical mechanism and moves it to action. We can look at mind and emotions from the perspective of the Spirit and the Soul; these are one and inseparable yet they have their own ‘apparent’ activity with the Spirit being the essence of the Soul and the Soul being the motivation to activity in Life; similarly then we could see that the mind is the essence of emotion while emotion is the motivation to activity of the personality and thereby the form. In this we can see again the Trinity as it makes itself a function of Life on the human level as well as the spiritual level and that there is no real separation of these principals; the mind is the rational and reasoning aspect while the emotions motivate the Life based upon the rational thoughts and cause the activity of the whole as the personality in form.

We should be careful to understand this word rational here in its broadest sense, as individual thought, and we should understand as well that there is an infinite range of mind and emotion combinations possible in the six billion plus people that inhabit this planet today. These are, the mind the emotions and the combination of these in the personality, strictly attributes of the Life in the realm humanity which realm includes what we call the afterlife for lack of a better term. Looking again at the Spirit and the Soul we should be able to see a similar working out of Life but here it IS the True Life and not the one that IS created by the Soul in a particular incarnation. The Spirit IS the Life and in this respect we are as God, of Whom the Master tells us that “God is a Spirit” (John 4:24); now God IS and the Spirit, the True man, IS, this IS their nature and from here we can see the role of the Soul as the motivation to activity, the Love that causes the reality of manifestation, and here we should try to imagine that without this motivation that Life simply IS Existence without activity. Then we can see here that the motivation of Life, the Soul, cannot be separated from the Spirit which is the Point of Being and we should try to see this in the correspondences that we draw in our chart below. Cosmically we can see the same ideas regarding God as it IS this motivation, the Son Aspect, that in some unknown way becomes the manifestation of ALL and it IS IN this ALL that we see ourselves and the Universe around us. The Apostle John gives us this in vague and mysterious way in the Prologue to his Gospel, saying of the Christ, the Logos as he calls Him, that “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God.  All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made” (John 1:1-3).

Again this is but a rough look at the unseen realities of Life and of God as we see them and this view is unlike what one will find in religion or science as these ideas are built in what we consider as our revelation as it is based upon our degree of focus. To be expressed, this revelation it is filtered through our personality as we live and see as men yet trapped but aware of the illusion and the glamour of Life in the world. Our sense of conviction is real and is based in the many things that we have learned in our sixty plus years and most of this from our own view of the Bible and much from the works of our Tibetan brother who taught us so much about the synergy of Life and the ONENESS of ALL men and of ALL things. Our point here is that in reading and in studying these things that we were drawn to we gained as it was ‘book knowledge’ and it was not until we began to live a Life of focus, until that point of Repentance, that we began to understand what we had been studying and that we began to realize the Great Truths that we in essence has already KNOWN. And here, while we may be revealing some of the mysteries of Life, they WILL NOT be understood by any who ARE NOT focused away from the self and onto God in whatsoever form that they may believe that they see Him for He IS as Paul tells us of the Master, that “Christ is all, and in all” (Colossians 3:11). By example is the chart below which was for many years just the first three columns and which contained but words and ideas of interest; We could not see the reality of the ONENESS of each column and had but a rudimentary understanding of the correspondences between God and man and little True comprehension of the Potencies as they could work out in each. Today, we can see this as the reality of Life and can understand it to such degree that we can write about it in cogent terms but, at the same time, terms which are as mere words to the reader who CAN NOT visualize these ideas and see these ideas in the words of the Master and of His disciples as well as in the words of the Buddha and of Krishna and every True world religion with which we are somewhat familiar. We should say here again that it is in the realization of these revelations as a man in the world that we come to recognize that we have ever KNOWN these things but were never focused enough on the things of God to rightly see them from our perspective as a man in the world. And this IS but the beginning as there IS so much that whispers in the depths of our consciousness that we CAN NOT yet grasp nor express.

This is what we have been presenting, this is the sense of revelation that will be revealed in the conscious awareness of the man in the world, revealed by the Soul, the Christ and the God Within but only to the man who is so focused upon them. For the man focused upon himself and the self in the world there is little of divine nature that can penetrate his mindset and his emotional, feeling, nature; this penetration is dependent upon the focus of the conscious self upon the divine, the Soul and the things of God and this is the first True choice that a man can face on the True Path toward that strait gate. We often speak about the fact that there are no shortcuts and there are no rituals nor affirmations that can take a man to this place of Right focus and today we will try again to put this into the clearest possible terms, terms that we take directly from our revelations of Truth and of the intent of the Master’s words. Many millions around the world read His words and never see the reality of His intent but see only what is shown to them from the various doctrines that they may study, doctrines that DO NOT grasp the reality of that Love that the Master teaches, that Love that we have been discussing from His perspective and from the perspective of the Old Testament over the last few essays; that same Love that Paul tells us of in our ongoing Quote of the Day below. From so many points of view, this Love IS the ONLY reality with which we must deal and this IS as the apostle tells us saying: “For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself” (Galatians 5:14). And we will say here again that this Love and the Love that we find in Paul’s sayings below IS NOT that carnal love that we KNOW so well; this Love that the Master teaches us is, from our perspective, Active GoodWill and this Love is implemented in Right Human Relations and in these two ideas we have the ultimate of meaning for the words that we call the Golden Rule expressed in our more modern terms. The Master tells us clearly that “Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them” (Matthew 7:12) and in this saying we have the divine intention of how one man should relate to another in GoodWill.

These things, the idea of Loving one’s neighbor and the Golden Rule, are taught in doctrine but they are only words and not the effective actions of the teachers or the students whose focus is upon the doctrines and upon themselves in the world and while sayings like this can and likely will raise the ire of many who believe that they are spiritually inclined without the corresponding action of keeping His words we continue down this road with the intention of some few realizing this Truth as expressed so clearly and bluntly by James as he tells us “be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves” (James 1:22). And we should understand that the deception can be great and that it is this deception based in the glamour of one’s belief that raises the ire against what we say. And the Master says much this same thing as He asks that rhetorical question “And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?”

The whole of our journey begins and ends with these ideas on Love and as we continue on our way to the Festival of the Christ next week and in this is a time for the expression of GoodWill as that Active Love and the realization of one of our headlines: GoodWill IS Love in Action. Now we should understand that the expression is expected in the Life of the aspirant and the disciple at ALL times; this IS his steady expression through his Life in this world but we should see as well that there are many to whom these ideas are alien and it for this reason that this day is also considered by some to be World Invocation Day. This is then a day where the prayers and invocations of those who do KNOW the Truth of GoodWill and Right Human Relations, Active Love if you will, will meditate and concentrate upon these ideals and through mass invocation using the Great Invocation or any suitable prayer, bring the greater impact of this Power and Love into their own lives and through them to a greater degree in the world. Now the Power of Prayer and of Invocation IS real and while we do not understand it nor how it works, we should nonetheless take advantage of this opportunity and, if for no other reason, we can see this as our own contribution to the whole and our example of divinity to others.

We close today repeating again our thoughts on the Love that the Master teaches us:

Of all that the Master told us, He considered this as the Greatest of Commandments. So much of what we are to understand as aspirants or as believers is found in the precept that we must KEEP HIS WORDS:

And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these” (Mark 12:30-31).

We ask ourselves WHAT THEN IS LOVE?

In a general sense love is benevolence, good will; that disposition of heart which inclines men to think favorably of their fellow men, and to do them good. In a theological sense, it includes supreme love to God, and universal good will to men.

We add to this THE EVER IMPORTANT AND HIGH IDEAL TAUGHT TO US BY THE CHRIST which can serve to both give us an understanding of what it means to Love oneself and how it is that we can Love our neighbor:

“Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them“ (Matthew 7:12).

Note on the Quote of the Day

This daily blog also has a Quote of the Day which may not be in any way related to the essay. Many of these will be from the Bible and some just prayers or meditations that may have an influence on you and are in line with the subject matter of this blog. As the quote will change daily and will not store with the post, it is repeated in this section with the book reference and commentt

Staying on the theme of Love we repeat again the sayings of the Apostle Paul that put this Love into perspective.

But earnestly desire the best gifts.
And yet I show you a more excellent way.
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love,
I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.
And though I have the gift of prophecy,
and understand all mysteries and all knowledge,
and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains,
but have not love, I am nothing.
And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor,
and though I give my body to be burned,
but have not love, it profits me nothing.
And now abide faith, hope, love, these three;
but the greatest of these is love.
1 Corinthians 12:31, 13:1-13
(New King James Version)

Regardless of our daily theme, the underlying theme of our posts and of this entire blog is Love. In these words from Paul we should be able to see the overriding importance of Love in the Life of each of us. This is a common theme throughout the gospels and the other writings of the apostles and a theme that is not nearly understood. In our theme today regarding Paul’s writings to the Romans and in the previous discussions on them we seek to impart the better understanding of the reality of Life, the Life of the True man as the Christ Within, the Soul, as it is from this perspective that we can gain that revelation of Truth and, as Paul says above, be free from the condemnation and the vanity of Life in form, free from the illusion and the glamour. We repeat here what we said about these verses in a prior post:

Today’s Quote of the Day from the Apostle Paul is his testimony to the power of Love. After speaking at length about the gifts of the Spirit that one should desire in order to be of service to the Lord, he says plainly that Love is a more excellent way. Love in the context of these verses is not the sentimental or affectionate kind that we ordinarily think of but rather benevolence, good will; that disposition of heart which inclines men to think favorably of their fellow men, and to do them good. In a theological sense, it includes supreme love to God, and universal good will to men. This defining of Love is covered in some depth in a previous post; In the Words of Jesus part 47.

Let the peace of God rule in your hearts!
