“The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these” (Mark 12:29-31).

“Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets” (Matthew 22:36-40).
HAPPY NEW YEAR
It seems odd to us that so much energy and resources are used in the change from one year to the next, a change which IS a rather momentary event in True history but this IS NOT how the societies of the world see this. ALL IS the same from the moment before to the moment after the clock strikes twelve; there is no radical change except perhaps in the minds of men. Much of the he world does view this as an momentous occasion and a time to reflect upon the past year as they look forward to the new and many make ‘New Year’s Resolutions’ as they resolve to change things that they themselves see as wrong in their own lives. While it IS likely that the majority of resolutions are not accomplished, it is good that one can reflect and note the need to change. And this IS as well our own tone as we take advantage to this change of year to reflect upon the last and to look forward to the next with zeal and with vigor; we however do so from a spiritual perspective. We note our own failures and the lapses in our own striving toward our spiritual goal and we note our progress as well; the progress is in our realizations and the better understanding and vision that these bring to us and the lapses are generally in the use of this revelation to the degree that IS required to be counted among the True disciples of the Lord. And here then we do look forward to a greater expression of Love, Peace, Harmony and True service in the coming days and as we take pause to think on these things, we realize that this review IS a daily event or, if it IS NOT, it should be. When we are in constant reflection on what we have done and are doing we see that judgement that we ALL face and then the instant search for the better way to accomplish that on which we judge ourselves. This IS the ongoing process of Transformation and of renewed Repentance regarding those concepts and ideas that we don’t yet understand or see clearly enough to change.
We ended the last essay with an appeal of sorts and we did so from a personal perspective as we need to appeal to ourselves as the Inner man IS the ONLY motivator that really counts and the ONLY one that has any True impact upon the ways of the man in the world. At the same time this appeal can serve as a reminder to others, as words that can make another consider those things that we say; and, we should understand here that scripture works in much the same way; as a reminder and as a demonstrator of the reality of the spiritual Life which can make one to consider the deeper Truths. The rest then IS ever up to the individual; there IS no magic or rite nor is there any ritual or affirmation that can bring a man to the Path and that can make of him a one who strives. And there IS a great Truth here which IS that within everyman IS his own Soul, his True self, his own reality of God and of Christ and that this Inner Truth is ever prompting, IS ever trying to get the attention of the man in the world and to show him the Peace that comes in attending to the prompting, the Peace that comes in changing one’s focus from the self and the self in the world to God and the things of God. For some this prompting IS stronger than it IS for others and this is likely based upon the prior achievements of the man in previous incarnations as we discussed in the last post. This man however who has the stronger prompting has no greater vision until he realizes the call and expends some amount of his focus upon it. We could even say here that for some who have had some prior achievement the reality of Repentance in this Lifetime can prove more difficult as this man has been able to provide for himself a more potent physical presence which may be harder to tear away from focus on the self and the things of the world. This last part is of course supposition based in what we do glimpse and ARE able to see and if one follows the logic here we can see this reality but at the same time we should understand that should this man be able to change his focus away from the self and onto the things of God, we then have a most powerful spiritual personality in the world.
Our appeal was that we could serve to hasten the return of the Christ and we speculated upon how this can come about through the ardent effort of the aspirants and the disciples of the world. This effort IS of course found in our expression of the Love and the Power of the Soul and in looking at this prospect we should see the logic in the idea that EVERYMAN who can expresses the Love and the Power of the Soul IS expressing the very nature of the Christ and, in so doing, he IS bringing a bit more of the Christ into the world. The greater the number of aspirants and disciples and even ordinary people that can express the reality of this Love that we discussed in the last essay, the more the world will be able to see Christ IS among us and it is this trend that will perhaps allow for the Christ to actually reappear among us again. As we said in the last essay, we CAN NOT imagine a way that He could be among us today in this most complex world and this logistical problem is greatly exasperated by the religious men of the world who likely would not accept Him because of His statements and His views. Jesus True teachings have tuned into doctrines and traditions and this IS NOT unlike what the Master encountered 2000 years ago when the religious of the day, the Pharisee and the Sadducee, the scribe and the priest, ALL of the religious leaders of the day, called Him heretical and a blasphemer because He spoke the Greater Truth; the Truth that was ever intended in the law and in the prophets.
Can we see this today? Can we imagine the attitudes of the denominations and the sects toward a man of Power and of Love who speaks against the doctrines and the traditions of the day; against those that see the Life of the man in the world as of greater value that the Life of the spiritual man that He admonished us to live ALL those centuries ago? Can we see a glimpse of this in the recent activities of the Pope who speaks out against the tendencies of his church to separate and even excommunicate persons with whose Life style they may disagree? His views are much in line with the realities of the Master’s words as He never spoke against any in any demeaning way but He rather spoke the language of Love. And can we get a glimpse of the potential turmoil against the returning Christ in the Truths that Pope Francis spoke recently about the monetary systems that are in place in much of the world today? Here again the Pope’s views ARE found in the Truth of the Master’s teaching and the reaction against them has been astonishing. Can we see our point about the return of the Christ to the world of men and can we see the need for our own cooperation with Him in preparing the world for this possibility by increasing by many fold the amount of Love in the world; the number of US who can express this Love.
This IS of course no easy task and a part of the reality of it is found in our Quote of the Day below. Here we find the aspirant and the disciple, we find us as spiritually focused men, reaching out to help and to assist our brothers by offering to them this Light that we have in ourselves. This IS of course done by our words but there IS a more important aspect of this and that IS by our actions, by our example of living our own lives as expressions of the Love and the Power of the Christ Within and, if we do not feel that we can do this then we offer our example in our striving toward that goal. The Quote of the Day IS one of accomplishment, it is what we ARE to become; but, as we say here, it is also of practical use to us as men today as we can practice these ideas by degree.
So we enter the New Year with hope and with aspirations for greater vision and greater revelations of Truth that we can share with our brothers and in which they might find some greater degree of their own realization of Truth. This IS how we grow ourselves and this IS how we encourage others who can in their turn encourage yet others. This IS how we can ourselves be a part of the spread of the Love and the Power of the Christ around the world; this IS how we can contribute to the reality of Christ in the world today and hasten that time where we can say that He IS returned.
We will continue with our thoughts in the next post.

Note on the Quote of the Day
This daily blog also has a Quote of the Day which may not be in any way related to the essay. Many of these will be from the Bible and some just prayers or meditations that may have an influence on you and are in line with the subject matter of this blog. As the quote will change daily and will not store with the post, it is repeated in this section with the book reference and comment.
We previously posted this saying in In the Words of Jesus part 367 and did so in conjunction with the Master’s teaching on the idea that ”But many that are first shall be last; and the last first” (Mark 10:31) and His teaching about the mustard seed where, in Luke’s Gospel, he says: “So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do” (Luke 17:5-10)”. In this context we say about the words above: The Master is speaking to His disciples in both instances above and both are, in our view, explanatory of the nature of the disciple; that he will accomplish what he has to do, his duty if you will, and will continue on in the service of the Lord and give his ALL in service to his fellowmen. There an ancient aphorism which states this truth in a different way and which we have taken the liberty of rendering in a more understandable language:
He who faces the light of His Soul and stands within its radiance is blinded to the issues of the world of men; he passes on the lighted way to the Kingdom of God. But he who feels the urge to pass that way, yet loves his brother on the darkened path, revolves upon the pedestal of light and turns the other way.
He faces towards the dark and then the seven points of light within himself transmit the outward streaming light, and lo! the face of those upon the darkened way receives that light. For them, the way is not so dark. Behind the warriors—twixt the light and dark—blazes the light of the Kingdom itself.**
