“And God said , Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so. And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made. These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens, And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground. But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground. And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed. And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads. The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold; And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone. And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia. And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates. And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. And the LORD God commanded the man, saying , Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof. And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him. And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed” (Genesis 1:26-2:25).
Our discussion has been about the Creation of All things but particularly about the creation of man as it appears in the Book of Genesis. As we have said, the common Christian understanding of these words of Genesis is literal and contrary to science and, somewhat contrary to good common sense as well. Of course we must always remember that this is our view and we make no authoritative statements other than to say that this is our careful discernment of the reality that is our history and our future. And we should remember as well that while these ideas may be interesting and give us some additional foundation in understanding the complexities of our Life on this Earth, it is only the assistance that we get in understanding the plight of mankind, the illusion and the glamour, the vanity of the Apostle Paul, that are important in our journey along the Path the His Kingdom. First that we can free ourselves from the captivity of Life in form and in so doing that we can stop and help our brother along the way. This is the importance of what we do here in these essays and in any Truly spiritual endeavor.
The common understanding of God said and things were so is a broad Truth and a reality but when we can only imagine God as a man speaking words of Creation, we are not seeing the reality of Life and we gain no understanding of the True ways of man and of the world. When we can see ourselves as part and parcel of God and as participants in this creative process from the perspective of the Spirit that IS the True man and who is and integral part, both from within and from without, of the activity of God in the world, we can then see our role more clearly and understand the Truth of Brotherhood and Unity as it Truly exists in the heavenly realms from which we come and where we ever are. One of the basic problems of our Life in form is that we identify ourselves with this form instead of with the reality of the Soul and this because of what transpired ages ago in the Genesis of Life in form as we KNOW it. There are not words sufficient to properly explain these things, these mysteries, but we can KNOW them though communion with our own Inner Self which is accomplished through our focus upon the things of God. We KNOW that we are conscious entities in this world of form and that when this Earth Life is done we continue; while we do not KNOW what the reality of this continuation is, we do KNOW that it does exist. At the same time we have much difficulty in understanding that we ARE this continuation as much as we are this Life in form and it is in this basic realization that we can make much progress in realizing that we ARE NOT this body but the Life, the Soul, the Christ and the God within the form.
Understanding this from Genesis may seem to be a stretch of the imagination for many who may read these words but there is an overall reality to what we are saying and while the specifics may be far off and perhaps even wrong, they are better suited to this reality than the unthinking literal interpretations of Creation, of Adam and Eve, and of the doctrinal view of the nature of man. In the end what is MOST IMPORTANT is that we come to see our own reality as Souls and take control of our minds and emotions, channeling our focus and our attention to the Truth of the Master’s message: that we lose sight of the little self in form as the center of ALL things and recognize the reality and the Truth of Love, of Brotherhood and of Unity.
We return now to our discussion of the happenings in the early parts of the Book of Genesis where we were addressing the forming of the body of the female human animal and where it is our understanding that this actually happens in the Sixth Day or Epoch of Creation. The text below is similar to the text that we read regarding the forming of the body of the male, Adam; and our view is that this is intended to give the same understanding that this act is the bringing of the True man, the Soul, into possession of a body in the Earth. Why it is written this way is unknown and, as we have said, there are may who believe and are taught from various doctrine the untruth that the female has one more rib that the male. We must understand that this uncertainty is to us is likely intentional; KNOWING the method of teaching these mysteries, we should try to see that in this simplistic look at the ‘birth’ of Eve that it is likely intended to say to the reader in that day that this male and this female are equal, that they are of the same materials and nature. This may be to show that the relationship of the male and the female in the animal kingdom from which these bodies come ARE NOT to be the same as the relationship of these now Soul infused animal bodies and, if we look around us at this relationship as it is in the animal kingdom today, we can likely see this point. Regardless, there is the appearance on Earth now of the female human form that is capable of serving as the vehicle of expression for a Soul in the Earth.
“And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed” (Genesis 2:22-25).
In the sayings above and down below we have the continuation of our ideas regarding this ‘creation’ of the female human body that is capable of serving as the vehicle of the Soul and we must remember here that it is Soul that will use this body; it is not a male or a female Soul…..just Soul. It is only in the body and the personality that we have the separate idea of the sexes and the personality is, in the case of both the male and the female, motivated by the hormonal balance of the individual body. In the top point from the Second Chapter of Genesis we find the ‘creation’ of the body and the use of the body by a Soul compactly placed into a single saying which we must try to understand works out the same way as did the ‘creation’ of the male body and the use of that body by a Soul. In the one we have the separate acts of the forming of the body and then the breathing in of Life which is the coming into the form of the Life of the Soul while in the other we have the idea that the female body is made from the male body, which to us this is symbolic of the sameness of their nature; we should see these events happening in much the same way albeit at different times. In this Second Chapter we have then the Souls, the True man, taking possession of physical human bodies; the male and then the female, and, as we have said in previous essays, this is the beginning of the era of vanity and of illusion and glamour as the conscious man, the Soul in form, slowly loses sight of his reality as a divine man and takes on the role of the man in form subject to the instincts and the appetites of the animal body compounded by the emotions and the thoughts that are produced by this union of consciousness and form. This is the beginning of the self conscious man in form and, as he begins his journey, his thoughts and his emotions, his very motivations, are directed at this self and those others or things that he ‘loves’.
Again we add that the why the when and the realty of how is unknown and this is an illusive mystery from the perspective of the man in form. It is rendered ever more complex by the lack of accurate and factual teaching as we are left to discern for ourselves these Truths or, at least to come to terms with the possibilities that can lend a greater sense of reality to our journey. For us these things can be seen in the clarification that we get from the words of Paul regarding our situation in the Earth as he tells us “For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God” (Romans 8:20-21). In the combination of this saying and the words from Genesis we should be able to sense the subjection by way of the taking on of form by the Souls as this event is what brings man closer and closer to the ways of the world. We should also see that it is incumbent upon ALL Souls in form to adjust to the ever changing form Life as a part of the effort to overcome the ways of this vanity and the ways of the world and to find the objective and the goal which IS to “be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God“. And, the only hint we have as to purpose is from Paul’s word in this Eighth Chapter of his Epistle to the Romans that we have been using so much as he tell us “And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body” (Romans 8:23). In these few verses from Romans we may have the entire key to the how and the why and although we cannot readily understand the meanings, these ideas can become our foundation on which we can build. In these words, the way to deliverance is in the having the “firstfruits of the Spirit“, in being True disciples who, by the acts of discipleship, can face the Lord as being ONE with Him and stand upon the Mount of Transfiguration where ALL that we are can be totally redeemed.
We come now to the second part of our discussion; the saying below from the Sixth Chapter of Genesis. We should note here that the word translated as men has a multiplicity of meanings in these scriptures as it refers to the animal form and to the Soul and to their combination as well. The Hebrew word that is translated as man is adam and this is the same word from which we get the translation as Adam with the difference dependent upon the thoughts of the translators regarding any particular verse. In the First Chapter we do not find this word until the Sixth Day yet we premise that the future body of man is formed in the Sixth Day as part of the overall animal kingdom of which the body is a part. Also on the Sixth day we have the creation of man “in the image of God” and this we understand as the manifestation of the Soul. These are two distinct happenings and only one of them is regarded as man which is the Soul. Moving on to the Second Chapter we have the forming of both the male and the female as the man and the women combined with the idea that the Lord “breathed into his nostrils the breath of life” which we KNOW as the dynamic idea of the Soul taking to himself a form and transforming that animal Life into “a living soul“. As we say above, we must try to see this as what happens in the bringing forth of the male version of the Soul in form is duplicated in the female version with the reality of this duplication found in the use of the rib of one to provide the body of the other. We should try to see that the word man or Adam is not used to refer to the animal body but only to the Soul infused animal body or the animal body as it is intended for Soul infusion. This leaves us in a quandary as regards our next sayings as these use the word man seemingly for both from the perspective of our premise.
“And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose……there were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown” (Genesis 6:1-2, 4).
Taking our premise of the use of the word man to be the Soul, or the Soul in form we must understand this saying to reflect this same understanding. We should see also that although it is farther along than the other text on creation, and this is a part of creation, that there must be some relevance to our reality of Life. Backing up to the earlier chapters we find that Adam and Eve bear Cain and Able; we see that Cain slew Able and then he goes to live in the land of Nod where he ‘takes a wife’. There is no explanation of this in the text as to where his wife may have come from and we should KNOW that this IS NOT going to be one of the earlier female human animal types as she would still be as she was, a wild animal. Some of the doctrinal understanding is that the early bible does not speak about the females born and that Cain’s wife is also one of Adam and Eve’s children; this is however but a guess that is made to fit the doctrinal and traditional model that is made. Then there is our saying above that shows some interesting interactions and again, with no time stamp as it comes abruptly after the completion of the story of Adam and Eve and the long list of the generations which covers about a thousand years. We should note however the criteria of the saying as “when men began to multiply on the face of the earth” and in this idea we can see that it is not for that particular time, just before the story of Noah and the Ark, as men were already multiplying “on the face of the earth” since the days of Adam, the first man, and we still do not KNOW the reality of his singularity or of his symbolism of mankind.
We will continue with our thoughts in the next post and continue on to our last point which we will repeat again.
- Last we have the trees; “the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil“.

Note on the Quote of the Day
This daily blog also has a Quote of the Day which may not be in any way related to the essay. Many of these will be from the Bible and some just prayers or meditations that may have an influence on you and are in line with the subject matter of this blog. As the quote will change daily and will not store with the post, it is repeated in this section with the book reference and comment:
We repeat here again a saying that is from the Bhagavad Gita and which goes well with our topic over the last several days. Today we see the God Within us as the Christ Within and this is good in the Christian world and this is True based upon our understanding of the Christ as the manifestation of God. We should see that it matters not what we call this Inner Man as it is the same in ALL, it is the Soul.
Thou carriest within thee a sublime Friend whom thou knowest not. For God dwells in the inner part of every man, but few know how to find Him. The man who sacrifices his desires and his works to the Beings from whom the principles of everything stem, and by whom the Universe was formed, through this sacrifice attains perfection. For one who finds his happiness and joy within himself, and also his wisdom within himself is one with God. And, mark well, the soul which has found God is freed from rebirth and death, from old age and pain, and drinks the water of Immortality.—Bhagavad-Gita
It is difficult to tell just what verses of the Bhagavad Gita the above is from; whether it is a paraphrase or a combination. It is from the book “The Great Initiates” by Édouard Schuré which was originally published in French in 1889 and perhaps it is in the translation of the verses that they become hard to recognize. However, the sheer beauty of the presentation caught my attention and so I share it with you. The Path to the Kingdom is the same no matter what religion one professes.
After research just a few of the blog posts on your web site now, and I actually like your way of blogging. I bookmarked it to my bookmark website checklist and will probably be checking back soon. Pls try my web site as nicely and let me know what you think.
Excellent read, I just passed this onto a friend who was doing some research on that. And he just bought me lunch as I found it for him smile Thus let me rephrase that: Thanks for lunch! “Any man would be forsworn to gain a kingdom.”
