“And God said , Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so. And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made. These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens, And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground. But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground. And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed. And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads. The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold; And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone. And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia. And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates. And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. And the LORD God commanded the man, saying , Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof. And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him. And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed” (Genesis 1:26-2:25).
In yesterday’s essay we looked at the True importance of understanding these things from scripture and how they can help a man today to make progress on the Path to His Kingdom which is within each of us and awaits only the realization of one’s True nature and his focus upon the RIGHT things of God. Understanding, breaking down the walls of doctrine and dogma, and sincere discernment from within are the tools to realization and this is our objective in presenting these things to all: to expand and enhance the understanding for the reader. As we have said, while we may not be accurate on the specifics, we are generally True to the broader look at the True nature of man and his role in this Earth and, with this in mind, we pursue our objective through our presentation. We often speak as we and this is to include the reader who can find some agreement with our premises and conclusions in the writing and, we often publish the words of our Tibetan brother regarding the acceptance of what we write by anyone. We repeat a shortened and slightly modified version here again today for the new reader:
He tells his readers: The books that I have written are sent out with no claim for their acceptance. They may, or may not, be correct, true and useful. It is for you to ascertain their truth by right practice and by the exercise of the intuition. If they present truth in such a way that it follows sequentially upon that already offered in the world teachings, if the information given raises the aspiration and the will-to-serve from the plane of the emotions to that of the mind (the plane whereon the Masters and one’s own Soul can be found) then they will have served their purpose. If the teaching conveyed calls forth a response from the illumined mind of the worker in the world, and brings a flashing forth of his intuition, then let that teaching be accepted. But not otherwise. If the statements meet with eventual corroboration, or are deemed true under the test of the Law of Correspondences, then that is well and good. But should this not be so, let not the student accept what is said.(EXTRACT FROM A STATEMENT BY THE TIBETAN)
It is in this same way that we offer here our ideas and thoughts and it is in this same way that they should be accepted or not.
Aside from our look at the relative importance of understanding from a personal perspective in the True nature of man and his Life in the world, we did get further into our discussion on the two points below; the introduction of the female human form and the obscure saying that follows in Chapter Six and which is, in our view, strangely related. In the first we have the saying by Adam and the following words which doctrine ascribes to the Lord but which, in our view, are either a continuation of Adams sayings or the commentary of the writer and regardless of which, these are used by the Master in His discussions with the Pharisees on marriage. That Jesus uses these words does not mean that they are of God as He frequently quotes the prophets, David and Moses as scripture KNOWING that ALL things from a True Son of God are from the Lord. We do not want to get lost in this debate as in reality it does not matter. We pointed out the overall reality of the ideas as they are given to us by the Apostle Paul regarding the harlot and the general idea to garner from what he says is that whosoever one takes as a sexual partner can be seen as one’s wife or husband and this is from the perspective of the Soul, the True man. This is to say that when a man reaches that point where he understands these things as they are taught by scripture, then sex is no longer the gratification of the instincts, appetites and emotions of the body and the personality but it is rather a True communion of two Souls who are beyond such instincts, appetites and emotions and in this there would be only one purpose. Let us look again at Paul’s words which he is speaking to disciples and aspirants on this: “What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh” (1 Corinthians 6:16). We should understand here that this sexual conduct from the perspective of a disciple and an aspirant who KNOWS that it is equal to that marriage that is spoken of in the New Testament IS NOT that the ordinary gratification of the senses which should be considered the ways of the flesh and of the world and this regardless of marital status. We will address these ideas further in a latter essay where we can devote much attention to this world phenomenon of sex. Our points for discussion here are these:
“And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed” (Genesis 2:22-25).
“And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose……there were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown” (Genesis 6:1-2, 4).
In the first saying from the Second Chapter of Genesis we have only one unresolved idea and that is in the last verse which tells us simply that the concept of vanity had not yet entered into the world. We should note here as well that this saying is not indicative of the reality that we KNOW ourselves today and it likely does not apply to whatever history we can recall; wives and husbands ARE NOT generally ashamed to be naked before each other nor before an unseen God. We should try to see here as well that in that day as well as this day the the patriarchs, the prophets, the Kings and even Adam and Eve did not see God before them as a man speaking to them; the whole idea of this God contact was most likely from within, the place where still today a man contacts God. And again, we must remember that these words of Genesis and all of the Five Books of Moses are written to the man in that day and written to accommodate his superstitions, his fears and his emotional approach to Life. We must remember too that these writings are also designed to hide within these words the reality and the Truths for those reading in later times if he would but look past the literal interpretations, the doctrines and the traditions that serve to cloud these Truths. The understanding of the idea of nakedness is for the next point below regarding the trees and here we will just say that the idea here of shame in this context can only be understood as a feeling of guilt before God and that, in the still present purity of the first True men in form as the male and the female of the human species, there is NO shame.
Continuing on to the next sayings above from the Sixth Chapter of Genesis we find what we have been referring to as obscure sayings that are misplaced in the text insofar as the common sequential understanding of the way that things occur. The beginning words should make it clear that this need not be after a thousand years and right before Noah as the words make no time claim other than “when men began to multiply on the face of the earth” which can be in the time of Adam and Eve. We discussed briefly in the last post the problems with the idea that Adam and Eve are alone in the Earth and are not just representative of the beginnings of the race as we see that their surviving son Cain leaves the family home and finds a wife. We noted that doctrine attributes this to Cain’s taking his own sister to wife as females are not noted in the genealogies as are males and some commentators and interpreters of these scriptures have created complex mathematical models to show how this is possible, that the population could have grown from just two persons. Nothing in these theories account for the diversity of colors and body types nor the spread of humanity around the globe and nothing here accounts for the historical theories of other world religions. Specific to Adam and Eve we cannot no say what the reality is; whether they ARE the singular male and female Soul infused forms or whether they are representative of the beginnings of Life in form and we have discussed this in the last few posts. We can say however that this story of creation is of and for the those people who would become the Jewish Race and it is some incorporation of the reality of the beginnings of the Jewish lineage in form coupled with a simplistic story of the Creation of ALL. We of course will look at this as it is presented but it is worthwhile to keep these ideas in mind.
So our text tells us that “And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them” and this is rather straight forward and clear. It is confounded however by the next saying and by our relative sense of confusion as regards the transition from the first Soul infused male and female as created by Souls taking form in the text to the next round in which the new forms are born with his Soul as a designed unit. We should remember here that the human animal male and female were ever creating young and living out their lives as human animals devoid self consciousness and the resultant personality. There is a great unknown here and we cannot even imagine how this works our but, at the same time we do KNOW that is does work; that beginning with Able and Cain there is the birth of Soul infused self conscious personality. The reality is here and it is recorded in our text but the why and the how are missing as they are in so much of scripture. There is much to be said about these next few verses and there is not space left here to begin in earnest so we will continue with this in the next post along with our next point regarding the trees.
- Last we have the trees; “the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil“.
As we approach Christmas 2012 we should try to look at another beginning. Above we have the beginning of Life in form in a timetable unknown and we ended above with the birth of Cain and Able. In Christmas we have another birth but one that is prophesied and heralded and one of singular importance as this is the FIRST and the ONLY time that a Son of God is born into the Earth in a way that brings into Life in form “all the fulness of the Godhead bodily” (Colossians 2:9) as Paul tells us. While the Prologue to the Gospel of John is not generally seen as a nativity story, we will post it here today as one; in these words is not only the factual occurrence of His birth but the purpose and reason if we can but see them in the words”
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me. And of his fulness have all we received , and grace for grace. For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him” (John 1:1-18)

Note on the Quote of the Day
This daily blog also has a Quote of the Day which may not be in any way related to the essay. Many of these will be from the Bible and some just prayers or meditations that may have an influence on you and are in line with the subject matter of this blog. As the quote will change daily and will not store with the post, it is repeated in this section with the book reference and comment:
We repeat here again a saying that is from the Bhagavad Gita and which goes well with our topic over the last several days. Today we see the God Within us as the Christ Within and this is good in the Christian world and this is True based upon our understanding of the Christ as the manifestation of God. We should see that it matters not what we call this Inner Man as it is the same in ALL, it is the Soul.
Thou carriest within thee a sublime Friend whom thou knowest not. For God dwells in the inner part of every man, but few know how to find Him. The man who sacrifices his desires and his works to the Beings from whom the principles of everything stem, and by whom the Universe was formed, through this sacrifice attains perfection. For one who finds his happiness and joy within himself, and also his wisdom within himself is one with God. And, mark well, the soul which has found God is freed from rebirth and death, from old age and pain, and drinks the water of Immortality.—Bhagavad-Gita
It is difficult to tell just what verses of the Bhagavad Gita the above is from; whether it is a paraphrase or a combination. It is from the book “The Great Initiates” by Édouard Schuré which was originally published in French in 1889 and perhaps it is in the translation of the verses that they become hard to recognize. However, the sheer beauty of the presentation caught my attention and so I share it with you. The Path to the Kingdom is the same no matter what religion one professes.
